The Cove Bar and Grill in Apple River

We stopped in for a late lunch today. Service was excellent. Our server even offered some bug spray after she noticed me swatting at some gnats outside on the lakeview patio. I had the chicken guacamole sandwich and onion rings and it was great. Wife had a salad. All in all it was a great experience on a beautiful afternoon. Don't bother looking at reviews from the past few years. New management this year and the whole experience is light years better than it was then. We'll be back soon.

We were out to eat. Watched the fire woks that were beautiful they did a great job. Our server was great! The pizza needed to be cooked a few more min. Dean said next time he would order his beer in a mug. It was great otherwise we will be back .

The view and the lake are beautiful. The service is very poor. We asked to talk to a manager because we were considering this location for a wedding rehearsal dinner but despite the fact that we were there nearly two hours for a simple evening meal, she didn’t find time to see us. Neither of us ordered a baked potato, yet we got a very large baked potato that was grotesquely rotten throughout. I had a chicken teriyaki sandwich which was more pineapple than anything else and very little chicken. Our service recovery was 10% off our meal next time we come. I’m not sure there will be a next time. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I've been there 5 or 6 times this year and have always had a great experience. Great food, great service, very clean, and the best view in the area. There is a nice selection on beers, and also a veggie burger available for those who fancy that.

Really cool location. Definitely not a place I would have found on my own! Great place to stop for something to eat on a bikeride. I reccomend the curd burger and sweet potatoe fries!

This place has a great location and they know it. They feel no responsibility to clean the place. The service is deplorable and they completely lack any competent managment!

Excellent wait staff, excellent food, our Double II Car Club attendees (31) had nothing but praise for their "Cove" experience! We will be looking foward to spring and another great experience!

It wasnt busy, yet we were disregarded. Service was horrible even though there were four staff sitting on their hands. My order was not at all difficult .Large pizza half cheese half sausage with an order of nachos to start . we waited 30 minute for nachos that came out cold and dry . After 45 minutes the waitress came back to ask us what size our pizza was and I knew right then and there something was wrong. 45 minutes later I walked out . Thanks for the one nacho and the 2 beers.

Poor service. Food is nothing like it used to be. Used to have a good steak that is no longer available. NO PRIME RIB ON SATURDAY. All other operators of business had prime rib.

Came in and had a good lunch. (I was worried at first because no one was at the desk). We just walked in and was greeted by a smiling Katelin (our waitress was great). She came to the table several times to check on us. Served us in a timely manner. Fresh, crisp wraps. (Good choices in wrap) Chef salad was also beautifully plated, fresh and good.

Quick service. We ate there twice and the place was empty both times! Doesn't bode well for the future.

Beautiful location on Apple Canyon Lake, this is a seasonal restaurant open from April to October. The food is pretty good since they went back to last year's menu and the serving staff is always friendly.

We ate on the deck overlooking the water. It was very relaxing. The drinks are awesome. I highly recommend having one of the slushes. The food is bar food... burgers, wraps, pizza, etc. It was good.

We waited for over 45 minutes for our food at lunch and there was only 1 other couple there. The food was not good at all. It was nice sitting outside on the patio though, but no umbrellas for the tables to block the sun. Would not recommend.

Our group had a bad experience at the Cove a few weeks back. Our Corvette club stopped there for lunch on a Sunday with 30 people. We were understanding that we had a big group so we would need to be patient but they assigned only 1 waitress to all of us and it took 2.5 hours to complete lunch. Receiving drinks and ordering was a long process in itself. Then our meals came out of the kitchen completely randomly with the waitress holding them up in the air two at a time asking who had the blank-blank. It was a free for all with our meals coming out scatterd out over a half an hour of time. The restaurant management was completely invisible and is apparenly clueless how to handle customers. The place wasn't even very busy that day.......I'd hate to be there if they were. Needless to say we won't be going back.

Beautiful views and great food, does take a fair amount of time to get your order. Waiters & waitresses are peppy and not afraid to smile!

Great place on a beautiful lake! The decor is a fun high-end beach feel with lots of amazing views! The food is flavorful and inventive. This is a place to come hungry, the portions are huge, and will not leave you hungry. Great outside lakeside deck for friends and family.

The burgers are AMAZING...they don't skimp on the fixings that come with the burger you choose ...you definitely don't leave hungry after eating here...the onion rings & cheese curds were also the best we have ever had!!!

Bit of a trick to find. Beautiful view!! Great outside seating! We grabbed a drink at the bar on the way out the door and was never asked if we wanted anything else in the 45 min we sat there.

The Cove Restaurant recently hosted the Sullivan Family for an Anniversary Celebration. The event which was on a Friday night was absolutely fantastic! Jackie, Veronica and all the staff did a great job with drinks, food , service and accommodations! Certainly serving such a large and spirited group is not always an easy task! Everything was scrumptious and we highly recommend the Cove. I might add, the atmosphere is great and we seemed to find ourselves migrating there frequently during our weekend stay.

When the new Cove first opened we were all excited to go there but after so many operators have come and gone through the years and such bad food and service while members continue to pay for it with their dues how can the Association board continue to raise dues? Last year the Cove closed before Labor Day!! And now 2019 brings ( I guess) another new operator for the Cove - just not acceptable. I love Apple Canyon but it ( Cove,) certainly is not being run seriously enough to bring in enough customers to keep the doors open! Wake up board before you not only lose the Cove but lose membership!!

New management, great staff, best lakeside view in the area. Stop in, great place to ride to in the afternoon.

We were not expecting the greatest experience when we went for dinner a few weeks ago, but we were pleasantly surprised. My husband, 1 year old, and I went for dinner around 4:00 on a Saturday. It took a while, and several people walking back and forth past the hostess stand, to get seated. We had a nice table inside, and we could see the lake. Our appetizer of fried pickles came out quickly, and we had a huge helping, much larger than what we have gotten at the pro shop in the past. Our burgers were served quickly as well, and were delicious. Aside from being next to a garbage can that had a few flies circling, we were quite pleased. The food was good, came out quickly, and cost about the same as the pro shop. We will definitely be going back again.

Interesting way to get to this place. Sad which and bar food, drinks ok,, great view, ok service, closes for Fall,Winter and some of Spring.

As one of the family members in attendance for the family celebration Kathy Christensen wrote about in her review, I must agree that we had a great evening at The Cove. We had over 50 people in our party, and we too can attest that the food was delicious (personally my husband and I had the shrimp and fish baskets - both awesome!), the service was very attentive, and the bartender (Veronica) made a great variety of drinks at will, and definitely made the evening a fun night! Jackie (Manager) was extremely accommodating to our large group (we did make reservations in advance), which had both young and old in attendance. Can honestly say, we all left with full stomachs and happy hearts as we celebrated our parents 60th Anniversary. Great Venue, we’ll be back!

I always have a mixed experience when I visit the Cove. The staff are always great and everything comes out quick, but the quality just seems to be lacking. I wish more people came here so they could push some better items on the menu.

Nice water front dining. Food was average and staff very friendly. The best part is the lake views.

Absolutely horrendous! Every year it gets worse! This could be a summer gold mine if they could get people in there that could cook, serve and manage the place correctly. The home owners association needs to fix this quick!

Great atmosphere with peaceful lakeside tables at sunset. Enjoyed specialty drinks for the fourth of July with appetizers from our knowledgeable friendly waitress. We will definitely return, probably by boat next time.
